Advance vs arrears
| Concept | Meaning | | --- | --- | | Arrears / outstanding | Unpaid dues (months, charges, previous-year carry-forward, broken promises). Parent still owes. | | Advance / wallet | Excess tender or prepaid credit sitting in the student wallet. Covers whole future months only when auto-applied. | | Promises | Partial pay with a promised due date — still arrears until cleared. |

Finance summary fields (student fee profile)

| wallet_balance / wallet_advance | Prepaid credit on the student |
| net_balance | Combined position used for gates such as TC / Struck Off (negative ⇒ student owes) |

Passbook-style ledgers (Account Section)
Treat these Account Section screens as the school’s collection passbook. school_admin and accountant (default menus):
